A close friend of the actress Marcia Rodd confirms she died at 87 on December 27 after a short illness.
First successful on the stage, including in Oh, What a Lovely War on Broadway in 1964, she was Tony-nominated for her performance as Maud Shelter in 1973. (She lost out to Glynis Johns’s powerhouse performance in A Little Night Music, in which she sang “Send in the Clowns,” and was also up against Debbie Reynolds for Irene.)
Later in life, she was in I’m Not Rappaport (1984) on Broadway and toured as Golde in 1989 and 1994 productions of Fiddler on the Roof.
Among her films were the Candice Bergen project T.R. Baskin (1971) and Little Murders (1971) with Elliott Gould.
Among her many TV guest spots, she was Maude’s daughter Carol on a 1972 episode of All in the Family, a part that was recast with Adrienne Barbeau for the spin-off series with Bea Arthur.
She was also, memorably, Nurse Lorraine Anderson on a 1978 episode of M*A*S*H, recurred on Trapper John, M.D. (1980-1986) and was a regular on the short-lived 13 Queens Boulevard (1979) with Eileen Brennan, Frances Lee McCain, Helen Page Camp and Jerry Van Dyke.
Her last movie was 2023’s Dante’s Hotel, but I believe her last filmed performance may have been on a 2023 episode of Hunters.⚡️
